In our section: ‘Employee in the spotlight’ we like to show which people are behind our organisation. On a daily basis, Archive-IT is committed to supporting organisations in the transition from a paper to a digital working environment. In addition, software is being developed to guarantee safe, digital accessibility. But who does what? And what are the motivations of the employees of the Archive-IT team? Time for a look behind the scenes.
In the ‘Employee in the spotlight’ of January, Tom Buysse was nominated by Vincent Huizinga. We would like to introduce Tom to you!
How did you end up at Archive-IT?
“Before the establishment of Archive-IT in Belgium, I had been working at Jalema Belgium for a number of years. I ended up there through an advertisement in the newspaper. When the needs of the market changed and physical archiving increasingly made way for digital solutions, the Belgian branch of Jalema was partly taken over by Archive-IT. A completely new Belgian entity of Archive-IT was then established and at that start I switched from Jalema to Archive-IT. “
Tom, can you tell me anything about your current position?
“I’m an account manager for the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. My colleague Joël Lejeune is responsible for the French speaking part of Belgium. As an account manager, I am mainly the face of the business and am largely involved in maintaining relationships and expanding my network. Furthermore, I am constantly looking for new customers to offer the right solutions to the problems they encounter. I am a sparring partner who gives advice in an honest way.”
Where do you get satisfaction during your work?
“What I really get out of my work is when I maintain good contact with the customer and can build up a good, pleasant relationship with them. In my opinion, I have achieved this when I walk into the client’s house and they call me by my first name and that they have a nice feeling about my visit. It also gives me energy when my clients run into something and proactively call me to spar about a solution.”
Nice to know: Although Tom ended up in a commercial position, he studied something completely different. He learned for Laborant, but he turned out to feel much more at home in the multi-faceted position of account manager.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
“In ten years, I’ll still see myself active within Archive-IT. By that time, I hope that we have made a breakthrough with AIR and that we have achieved the long-term objectives for Belgium as much as possible. The AIR application is a new development within our organisation, which I’m very enthusiastic about. It gives the digital domain a new dimension and focuses, among other things, on Document Management and Records Management. I like to see how the physical world of archiving is moving to the digital world and that chaos has also arisen in the digital part. With AIR we offer a solution for this and I hope that in 10 years time I can be part of the success of Archive-IT.”
For the next month, you get to put someone in the spotlight. Who do you want to nominate and why?
“I’d like to nominate Marc Polmans for the month of February. Marc is our product manager. I’m curious about his work and how he ended up at Archive-IT.”
